However, I also had a pleasant and unforgetable experience that shall always be remembered. I had the honour to be granted an audience with DYMM Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, Tengku Permaisuri Selangor. HRH’s warm personality reminded me of her generously kind words, beautifully hand-written in a card accompanying the wedding presents granted to me and my husband earlier this year. We were both touched and humbled by her generosity. Last night, HRH welcomed me like a long lost friend rather than a stranger nor a subject, she was eloquent and soft-spoken. Her warm personality radiates throughout the room and made all those around her felt comfortable. My heart felt warm and at ease but my mind was constantly reminding me that I am standing before the queen of the state, which I have been residing for the last decades. No words can sufficiently describe this rare, humbling personal encounter with HRH Tengku Permaisuri Selangor. This is a memory to be eternally treasured. It is true what Agesilaus II, one of the many Greek kings who once said that “Royalty consists not in vain pomp but in great virtues”. My queen certainly mesmerised me last night and I believe will be for many years to come.
