Hold On To Your Seats! Genting Confirms Outdoor Theme Park Is Opening Really Soon

It was supposed to look like this.
The journey to completing the theme park, which was announced back in 2013, has been a very hard one.

It was supposed to be the only functioning 20th Century Fox theme park in the world and the first in Asia, but in 2018, Fox Entertainment terminated their agreement with Genting when Disney bought over the entertainment company.

Genting then filed a USD1.75 billion (RM7.49 billion) lawsuit against Disney and Fox for trying to back out of the deal.

In January 2019, Fox filed a USD46 million (RM196 million) countersuit against Genting, blaming the resort for the deal falling through.

After going to court for almost a year, Genting and Fox finally came to an agreement, and as part of their new deal, Genting would be given “a license to use certain Fox intellectual properties”.

As you can guess by the new name Genting has given to the upcoming theme park, it will no longer carry the '20th Century Fox' branding.

However, if you're a fan of movies like 'Minions' and 'Planet Of The Apes', there is some sort of good news for you.

Although Genting dropped 20th Century Fox from the name of the new theme park, visitors can still expect to see attractions based on some of the film stodio's movies, as well as other "international class" movies.

But we will have to wait and see what these movies are.

All we know is that we can't wait for the theme park to be finally opened. We really do miss going on roller coasters.
